To all our children:
Yes, it’s son Scott’s turn – btu he decided to work instead of having to read again. But, Mother and I will go there and he will read and send copies to all of you. How about that?
We gave a lot of thought to a gift for you this year, but we decided to buy carpet instead!
95 will surely be remembered as the year my father died. We will all remember him in our prayers, along with all the others in the family who are looking down upon us this day and are joining us with their spirit.
As I remember the past letters, it seems we’ve been covering everything. It’s becoming more meaningful to Mother and I to see how each of you are conducting your life. It’s a pure pleasure to see our children and grandchildren grow in every way.
We must have done something right to see you all progress in such a meaningful way. Many of the things we have tried to have you understand make more sense today than years ago.
Just think of some of them:
- Your own happiness should be secondary to those around you – family and friends.
- God should play a part in your life. What part is up to you. Everyone of us needs help in some way. Think about it.
- Save some money. Think about your future and make some serious plans.
- The happiness of having fun can only be accomplished if everything else is taken care of first. It’s not easy to have a good time.
Again it’s not perfect. But we are blessed with a great family (including in-laws). We all share in the responsibility to make it better.
When you truly love someone you can overlook their shortcomings.
Please dedicate 96 to a better year for yourself and everyone around you.
Love ya,
Dad
PS: Do you really understand what I mean when I say “check your oil?
