Another wonderful year…..and it’s great to be alive….
This could be known as the year of the house, as Kelly and Jamie and their spouses have incurred massive debt.
However its a good thing Dad waited for Scott to come home to write this letter. His proposal to Denni (on the airplane – on his knees) is the highlight of 1996. We are very happy for both of them. Wish them godspeed and to Denni: good luck.
As all of you are rapidly joining Mother and I in middle age, you might realize that your father is sometimes hard to satisfy and no matter how good you think you’re doing – Dad would want you to do better – and you can!
- Your relationship with God should be at the top of your list. However you choose to deal with it, try to improve it. I promise you sometime in your life you will need God’s help and love.
- Your relationships with family and friends – no matter how good, can be better but only if you make them so. The key is to look at the other person’s viewpoint. Look to your spouse, your children, your brother and sisters. Make them happy and your happiness will follow.
- In Dad’s wisdom:
- If you don’t save your money, you’ll never have any.
- We all spend too much on unnecessary things. Having fun or a good time has no relationship to being broke. Have a serious plan for 97!
- Help each other out – even more than you do now. You make the call, you offer, you do matter. Don’t wait. Enjoy the day. As time goes on, you will become even closer. In time of real need, you will be there for each other.
- Lastly, help your brother. He’s going to need lots of things. So if you have anything you don’t need like old money – let him know.
Lastly again, even though you know these special gifts are from Mother and I, this year you must guess. Hint: it’s one of Dad’s most favorite things. One guess each, starting with the oldest.
Love ya,
Dad
